JUST Water clean water sanitation

JUST Water works to bring clean water, sanitation, and health education to the poor in rural areas around the globe.

• About 2 billion people lack access to safe drinking water.                                                         
• 2.5 billion people lack access to adequate sanitation. 

• 3 million people, mostly children, die from dirty water diseases each year.   

We work with local and regional organizations in developing to plan and construct clean water and sanitation projects and protect the environment in rural areas of Haiti and other countries.  

We also provide funding for long term efforts: health education, watershed assessment, well maintenance/repair, and reforestation.   Our direct funding of projects and programs is currently centered in rural Haiti with our Haitian partner, the Peasant Movement of Papay.

Our efforts seeking water justice know no boundaries.  We encourage implementation of the human right to water and sanitation at local, national, and international levels as well as efforts to achieve UN Sustainable Development Goal 6 on water and sanitation. JUST Water advocates water justice -- management of water resources on an ecologically sustainable basis focusing on alleviation of extreme poverty around the world.
